|

Labelled a Presidential Scholarship, applicants holding 2 year college degrees or those who have finished their second year of University will be able to work in public schools on a cadetship basis.
Salaries will be lower and the rural schools will be filled with these applicants one would imagine.
Edutainment on the rise in public schools. |

EPIK will do it in 2009...don't think they could manage Sept '08.
I just had to help them with wording in the title and was told the Director of EPIK is now running this cadetship program.
It has all been approved and will soon be ready to hit the job boards.
New president coming through on his promise to have more foreigners in more Public schools by 2010. |

What are your thoughts on this 'cadetship' program? Are white faces really in that much of a demand? I thought the basic requirements were fine. |

Every week a more retarded plan comes out, when it's so obvious that until the testing / grading system changes there will be little that either Korean or foreign teachers can do to teach more effectively. I can only imagine what will happen when a bunch of 20-year-olds get plonked down in a bunch of rural schools. Not much serious learning, I'm pretty sure. |

Not many NT are willing to work/live in a rural area already as it is. Now with lower salary...I wonder how successful it'll be. |

Depending on how low the salary is, I might have done it after my second year of uni. It would have been a mistake, but... |

There don't seem to be any 'tests' for Elementary public school. Just one official test. And not until grade 6. Test based on the Elem textbook and just before they leave for Middle School. That's what it was like at the last Elem school I worked at.
These 'cadet teachers' with their two years in college are an exception then, with their 'Presidential scholarship'? Everyone NOT working in public school in this 'cadet teacher' group must have a BA? All hagwon workers, Univ teachers need a BA minimum?
