Source: Hillary TV Ad Campaign Is Now 100% Negative In Most Pennsylvania Markets
By Greg Sargent - April 16, 2008, 12:33PM
Here's a glimpse into Hillary's ad strategy in the final stretch of the Pennsylvania primary:
In most of Pennsylvania's markets, the only TV ad Hillary is running right now is a negative one -- the spot hitting Obama over his "small town" comments, a political ad buyer who tracks buys in Pennsylvania tells me.
The buyer says that as of this morning, that ad -- and no positive spots -- are running in the Pittsburgh, Erie, Johnstown/Altoona, and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton markets.
Meanwhile, the buyer says, in the Philadelphia and Harrisburg markets, Hillary's ad campaign is 50% negative -- she's running two spots, the new spot hitting Obama over oil companies, and another spot touting Hillary's plans to right the economy that doesn't mention Obama.
According to the buyer, the Philadelphia and Harrisburg markets add up to a bit over half the state's households.
Upshot: Nearly half the state's households are right now seeing only the "small town" spot, and the remaining half are seeing her economy spot and the oil spot hitting Obama, the buyer says.
Of course, this could still change at any time. Asked for a comment, Hillary Pennsylvania spokesperson Mark Nevins would only say: "We don't discuss our ad strategy. The colonel never gives away the secret recipe."
Late Update: There's still more: Ben Smith has obtained the script of a new ad hitting Obama that the pro-Clinton third party group American Leadership Project is set to run. |

FYI for those that don't know, American Leadership Project is a 527 using soft money. I took a look and found little or no information about them. |

Every time Hillary goes negative, it hurts her more than it hurts Obama. Not that I expect this to change her behavior, because I honestly don't think she can help it -- besides, she's completely wedded to her strategy at this point. It's not like pulling a John Edwards would make Obama pick her as veep.
She'll throw the kitchen sink, the boiler, the entire contents of the laundry room... and Obama will win the primary and the general, and Sen. Clinton will remain in the Senate. Unless and until she gets a well-funded primary challenger in 2012, a distinct possibility if she keeps this up. |

Good. Go negative. It can't hurt anymore than the pandering. Just stop the pandering and especially the exaggeration of your own experience.
Attack. You've got nothing to lose at this point. Half the Democrats already hate you for challenging golden boy. |

Damn, Kuros, you sound almost as bitter as Hillsy.
For the record, and I'm only speaking for myself here, I don't hate Senator Clinton for running against Obama, or for staying in the race. I hate Sen. Clinton for the WAY she's run her campaign. I don't want business as usual, and Clinton is clearly business as usual. There's going negative on the issues, and there's borderline slanderous personal assaults with little to know justification. She lost me way before Obama misspoke.
Whether or not Obama will be different has yet to be made clear. |

I'm disappointed that Clinton went negative. I was hopeful that both campaigns would stay positive. Naively hopeful, I guess. I thought a competitive campaign, run without bitterness, was the only way the Dems could win in November. That's down the drain now.
I don't get a feeling from any of the 3 candidates that he/she knows what to do about the mess. Everything I read says the economy is headed for the 1930's, the price of everything is sky rocketing, we're stuck in a war with no end that is draining billions and it's getting near time for me to retire.
Eight years ago it felt like the government had a handle on things. It was moving in the right direction. Does anyone feel that way now? |

Really. It's sad to see that Hillary would rather have the Democrats lose the presidency than have another Democrat win it. |

Oh yeah, lots of people do. That $3 trillion we're spending on Iraq isn't vanishing into thin air, you know.
Average Americans? Not so much. 81% "wrong track" was the last poll I saw. |

Telling someone they sound bitter is pigeon-holing them into making a bitter response. How do you comeback to the accusation that you're bitter? There's no way, no how. |

I saw that too. Misery loves company, but it doesn't help. I have this sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach that there is a card board box and a bridge in my future. I thought I was being smart to keep my money here in Korea, but the Won keeps sinking almost as fast as the dollar... I gotta stop watching Grapes of Wrath. |

Well, if it gets too bad maybe Hillary will let you feed from her boob. |

Can women past menopause do that? These days, nothing much would surprise me. I just found out there is a group encouraging men to breast feed. |

Wow, please take off your blindfold. At least admit you have posted plenty of negative stuff about Obama. Much like your nasty response in the other thread a few days ago, it gets old.
I was just merely pointing out that much like Ohio and Wisconsin, Clinton went hardcore negative against Obama right before election day. There is some proof it may have helped her in Ohio, but not in Wisconsin.
Are you saying this isn't true that she is going negative and that the campaign is in fact not using a 527? |

This might be one of the very few times we agree on something. |

The above post was advice directed at Clinton. |

It was an observation not an accusation. My awareness of your bitterness is more a cause for concern than an indictment. |
