I bought an Oppo 980H DVD Player just 3 days ago, and have decided to sell it off for a much higher-priced Marantz unit costing 5 times more. I paid 198,000 won (Korean price), and will sell it for 170,000 won.

See www.oppokorea.com , and make sure you enable pop-ups.

I've played 2 movies and some SACD's through this Oppo, and I can honestly say that the video quality is by far the best you're going to see on any player under $800. The reviews all say the same thing. The audio quality is very good too, so you may wonder why I'm getting rid of it.

For one, it was an online purchase, and I'm embarrassed to push the seller of it to take it back, as there is nothing at all wrong with the unit. It works absolutely superbly, and is region-free (I entered the secret code to do it).

For two, I'm building a fairly expensive and high-quality system, and the Oppo, although great, can't compete with an $800+ SACD dedicated player. I've got a system that will play down to 22hz, and when the sound hits below 80hz, I notice a slightly less "full" sound compared to the more expensive players out there. Most people aren't going to notice (my wife can't), but I'm picky as hell.

Why did I think the Oppo, at 200,000 won, would ever compete with an much more expensive player? The reviews by many people say it does. It also is one of the first players with "DSD", or "Direct Stream Digital" capability. Some have touted that DSD makes it useless to need to spend more on a high-end player. I'm not sure I believe it, now that I've owned it.

So in short, you're looking at a 3 day old player that's in perfect condition, comes with all materials, and is guaranteed to work perfectly or your money back (warranty is still in effect, of course).

Don't bother low-balling me on this, as I will also be putting this up on auction.co.kr .
