I'm in another country. Well and good. It's an Asian country, and a few might know where. I don't care. I'm glad I'm gone from the mentality and sentiments I'd faced in Korea, though I genuinely liked the place in other ways.
The mentality is as you know. There was a lot of Bush-bashing, anti-American sentiments, etc. It's not that it riled me up so. It was that I wanted to know if these sentiments had legitimacy. I felt, alas, my country was the enemy. So did others, hint hint.
Yet the Asian country I'm in now? There's genuine comaraderie, no complaints, crybabying. As for politics, mum's the word, since most races know it's offensive to put another's country and president down. I haven't heard a peep, politically speaking, about Bush or America or what not, which pretty much makes me believe something was definitely wrong with Korea, not America.
Then Canadians joined the bandwagon and. . .you can guess the rest. |

maybe the country your in doesnt have appx. 38 000 US marines sitting in the middle of the capital city, keeping the natives apart, and making the local men feel totally dick-less?
and maybe the country you are in still has some of its old culture left, and isnt a cheapo copy of an american slum city circa the mid 70s,so the locals dont feel inferior to the real thing? |
