So what the hell happened to the thread I posted entitled "gay fellatio on the subway?" Did someone find the title offensive? The title was an apt description, not sensationalism for it's own sake, and it was reported on the (Korean) news. There was nothing untrue in the original post.
The thread was there last night. I answered a response last night in which someone basically said that gay people should shut up and act like straight people: then everything would be okay for them. Is it offensive that I find that offensive and said so? Besides, it had nothing to do with the original post. The point was to gather opinions on what purpose the guys on the subway might have had for filming such a video and then "leaking" it to the public. In a relatively conservative (in public) society like Korea, I found the video surprising and the reasons for making it perplexing. But apparently, even the "expat community" in Korea feels more comfortable having anyone who's different just shut up and disappear - one of the very attitudes which might push young frustrated men to perform such shocking acts in protest, so shocking they can't be ignored by the public.
It is strange to me that people can come on here and discuss their hatred for all Korean people, their hatred for all non-Korean people, and all manner of (heterosexual) activity in the most puerile terms, but my thread meant to intelligently discuss a real news story with many sociological and psychological aspects warrants deletion. I realize that Dave's is a privately owned website, not a public space, but since it serves the "foreigners" living in Korea, most of whose countries respect the right to freedom of speech, wouldn't it be nice to at least receive a message or e-mail explaining why something you have written is being deleted? |

Korea bashing, especially done from the 'I'm a helpless waegook getting screwed' point of view is perfectly fine. But Korea's dirty little secrets are best left on Naver on Daum, away from meddling, curious round-eyes. |

So you're noticing it, too: the forum is mostly geared to appeal to the sensibilities of someone who is white, heterosexual, lower-middle class, and who extocisizes Korea and its people (by that I mean that there's a latent racist favoritism dismissive of any critical assessment of the people and the culture, just because they are Asian).
Interesting too that they allow people to have pics of Korean womens' butt cheeks up, and bash Europe, calling the mediterranean "a sewer" (too PC and ahistoric to know about the racist bias against Southern Europeans, are they)... |

OP, there was nothing wrong with the title at all. It was part of the news.
Posters, homosexual and heterosexual were getting a little too x-rated. The thread was up quite a while, so obviously the mod team saw nothing wrong with the subject matter or title. Your question is fair. It was definitely not in support of any sexual persuasion. We received a report from a poster, examined the complaints, but didn't necessarily side with the poster who made the report but took his report seriously and saw that he had some points, it was descending fast into an x-rated cess pool and
it was also getting too much into bashing. The person who brought it up to our attention is definitely not anti-homosexual, and when we look at these things we don't care if the title says gay or hay. It was a thread we actually wanted to keep on there, because it was definitely pertinent to Korea and the General Forum. The question was appreciated. If you want to repost it again, feel free to do so as there is nothing wrong with the title or the subject matter and there never was...
Thanks...Mod Team... |

Wow! I actually feel better for once - after having posted and read the responses on Dave's. You first guys were funny, and moderator, thanks for taking the time to let me know why you deleted the thread.
I didn't get many pertinent responses anyway, so I'll probably just let the question rest with my own theories. The whole story will go in that cubbyhole of my mind labeled "You remember back in ~ when ~ happened in Korea...? / Funny stories to recount over beer with friends who are familiar with Korea and its culture" |

You mean this one? It's still there. Perhaps you didn't look very well?

Excellent segue from the 'look the world is gay shtick' to the 'I'm a victim of on-line fag bashing shtick'. However, I highly doubt that your thumb sucking needs will ever be truly satisfied. I do take solace, based on I my limited knowledge of gay subculture, that other gays 'suffer' much more from your special ability to spout self-righteous indignation. But feel free to pontificate here; not everyone can have their own talk show.
P.S.
They were drunk. |

Hahahahaha! The magic of the internet: Things that were there disappear. Then, sometimes they reappear again as if by magic. Apparently, it was pulled to edit out vulgar language.
If you have an opinion, go to the thread and say why you think two guys would stage and perform a sex act on a public subway train. I know what they did, and I know how a lot of people feel about it. I'm much more interested in what their possible motivations could have been. |

My partner, who is Korean, told me that the video is at least three or four years old, and was originally created and posted for the gay K website Ivancity (www.ivancity.com). The info that he got came from the message board of the same website. Seems like the recent re-releasing of the video was done misleadingly and out of context. |

there is a CONTEXT to gay oral sex on a subway! Wow I thought it was just a surreal event in a city of millions. But I can sleep now, knowing it was 'taken out of context.' Has anyone ever been taken out of context from behind in Hamilton Hotel? |
