I am thinking of going to see this area while I am in Shanghai. Is it worth it to go if I only have two days to spend there?

I visited the mountains about 4 years ago and it was really a great experience. Two days is about all you need. One day to hike up the eastern side, sleep at a hotel at the top, and hike down the western side the next day.

If you're short on time, catch the Yungusi Cablecar up the mountain. The train station at Tunxi has trains to Nanjing, Suzhou, & Shanghai.

A couple of shots I took :

I just got back. It was phenomenal. I only had one day so I took the cable car up.

I managed to spend a day visiting Xidi and Hongcun. They are villages where two of my favorite movies, Ju Dou and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, were filmed.

The Hostel I stayed at, The Koala International in Huangshan, was excellent for about $15 a night. Across the street in the old center of town were two fabulous and cheap restaurants. The whole area was made fragrant by the drying of tea by various shops along the streets. I wish I was still there.
