Hey--I resigned my school in March (7 months into contract, and have a release letter) and I just checked with immigration and my former school did not cancell the VISA...why not? We did leave on farely good terms
I'm currently looking for another job, so what should I be aware of in terms of leaving the country, immigration, etc.......
Also, I've payed into pension, but not health insurance. I was told that if I apply with a new school and I pay health insurance, then I will be responsible for paying back 7 months of health insurance...is this true? |

The release letter you have IS your cancelled visa. My last school and I left on rather strange terms (read some of my past posts), but the director was really nice about not doing anything to cancel my visa and force me into paying for and applying for an extension while my uni was taking its sweet time getting paperwork together. Now you can just transfer the old visa, pay for the extension, and no one's the wiser. It's probably the same deal as getting a new visa, but without leaving the country. |

Thanks for the reply.....couple of questions though....
1)dont I have to be here a certain lebth of time for them to transfer the VISA, and do both schools have to got to immigration?
2) the extension your talking about, is that when I hit 12 months or before? |
