Because of a previous immigration infraction (1 day overstay), I cannot obtain my visa in a third country such as Japan. So I must do a visa run to my native country Canada. I'm thinking of Vancouver, for it'll be the cheapest fare. But I'm more worried about the number of days it'll take for the visa to be finally issued for pick up. Does anyone know how long it normally takes at the Korean consulate in Vancouver? Thanks. |

If you have compelling reasons, and PRIOR to the new requirements for an interview, it WAS possible to get it done in one day IF you were from out of town.
Sorry that I do not have current information. I do not know how often they hold interviews or if you have to make an appointment or can do it on a drop in basis if you are coming from out of the country. |

Thanks. I better call the consulate on Saturday morning. I hope this mission receives international calls. The mission in Osaka doesn't. Seoul Immigration might know the routine in Vancouver, so I'll call this office as well.
BTW, I just spent 400,000 won on a round trip flight to Fukouka, where my E2 visa was denied because of my prior infraction. I had forgotten all about it and was unaware that it would affect my application in a third country. I applied for the visa issuance number in Seoul, so I'm amazed and upset that the immigration office failed to advise me to get the visa in Canada.
Warning: If a visa application is cancelled by a prospective employer during its process, the CRC document stays with immigration and the applicant must apply for another CRC document in order to apply for a visa with a different employer. Try not to break your contract to change employers before you even start. Each visa application requires an original CRC document. What a pain in the arse. |
