A while back on this forum was a thread about the worst dating experiences you've had in Korea. This thread is about the worst dating experiences you've created for the person you were dating. The purpose here is not to brag about all the douchebaggery you've done towards your dates - save that for the morning after your next toga party. Stories here should involve the writer staring deep into the keyboard grooves, airing the shameful inner bastard, while the rest of us have a laugh.

Me first.

I asked a Chinese girl on a date in China, who was a Korean fetisher (the Korean wave is actually alive and well in China, I found to my surprise). She loved Korea so much her phone had 한글 and English, but no Chinese, which would have been helpful to show the taxidriver. Instead she drew me a map with Chinese, which I immediately lost.

We were due to meet at 7:00 but I knew I was going to be late because I was racing around to an internet cafe trying to find the address of this restaurant whose name I could barely remember. You see, pride prevented me from calling the girl and telling her I'd lost her carefully drawn map.

So I texted her saying I would be 15 minutes late (she was already on the bus, though). I actually found the address on line, raced out of the internet cafe, and promptly forgot the address. Had to call her in the taxi (it was now 7:10). She told the taxi driver the address, but not only was the route much longer than I'd expected, but I also had Shanghai's slowest taxi driver. He then proceeded to drop me off at a nearby, though incorrect, intersection.

Had to call her again to walk over and get me. This is 7:50, and the 10 minute back to the restaurant brought us round to 8:00. Did I apologize? Nah. My rule is this. 10 minutes late: 'Sorry I'm a bit late'. 20 minutes late: 'I'm so sorry I'm late'. 30 minutes: 'God I'm sorry, how can I make this up to you?' 30+: no point it would just be insulting, so just flip up the collar and act cool.

Yeah, I've found there's no situation I can't fix by simply popping my collar.

Well, the one most amusing was a gal who was freaking out at 612pm that I was 12 minutes and 2 subway stops away, partly because of road traffic, as I have a bus ride then the subway.

Mi Y: YOu made me wait too long, I wanna go home.

C_oH_: Okay. Have a pleasant night.
