It can be done IF you start the fight within the first two years of your employment.

It will be an uphill battle (most front line pension office clerks can't be bothered with you) and only net you a little over $1000 for each year worked.

It you are persistent you will get it in the end.

You will have to enroll AND pay your share of the premium/s (4.5% of your gross earnings for each employer since you arrived in Korea) FIRST

then the pension office will go after the employer for the balance.

.

Are you sure about the 2 years? I am about to go to pension to ask for my last 3 years worth. Not sure if it will be worth it if its too late? Shocked

Good luck getting what's owed to you. I honestly sincerely mean that. My former employer wasn't paying into it properly and he lied to me in telling me that he fixed the problem. *beep* him. He is in a deep enough hole as it is. I'm better off forgetting about it. His business is on it's way out and he has scarred the neighborhood with dishonesty and false claims of a fulfilling learning environment for the children who live there... The walls are caving in on him and he knows it. Not my problem anymore.

Yes, OP, you can file for back pension. It helps you a GREAT deal if you have saved documentation like contracts, pay stubs, etc..

Supposedly/legally - yes, you can get previously owed pension. The difficult part is actually getting the pension office to fight for you and the school to actually pay.

My school deducted all the pension payments they made from my last paycheck. My flight was at 11 am the next morning, so I had to call the pension office from America. The guy I talked to said what the school did was illegal but there was nothing they could do and I should let it go. The labor board said I could only file a claim if I was in the country.

My school is going to shit a brick when I get back in June and report them.

It's only uphill if you deal with the regional branch offices. They are lazy knobheads. Once they tell you it can't be done, go directly to the head office in Jamsil and THEY will force the regional offices to do their jobs, and you will get your money.

It took about a month after going to the Jamsil office before I had my money in my hand (a full year's worth, retroactive)
