I'm planning to buy a wall-mounted unit form a co-worker, but I was wondering if I could do the removal/installation myself to save myself money and translation hassles. The guy who lived in my place had one before (there's a cardboard-covered hole in a window as evidence), so I know there used to be one there.

Has anyone installed one before? What would I have to make sure of?

Easy, just smash a hole in the glass, run the hoses through the hole, and have the compressor unit hanging outside unsecured. That's how everyone else does it!

One problem: you'll still need to have it refilled with coolant.
