I've lost 10 pounds since I've been living in Korea. I don't know if it's the food or what not, but I'm already on the skinny side and I really want those 10 pounds back and maybe pack in a couple more. I've been trying to eat a lot but i'm blessed/cursed with fast metabolism. I guess I would be classified as a ectomorph?

Anyways this would be fine and dandy if I was a girl, but I'm a guy and my bones get cold. i need some mass again, it feels weird using the extra hole on my belt to hold my pants up.

So I'll be getting a gym membership in the next week or so but I want to know if anyone has suggestions on some brands of weight gainers or programs i should follow to gain some weight. Are protein powders recommended or weight gainers? or both?

Also from looking in the forums I came across these two sites to buy the stuff on, recommended?

http://www.maxpowershop.com/
http://www.mass119.com/
http://www.speedns.com/

thanks

This site is good. Can't comment on the others.

Yes a weight gainer is in order for you. Try to eat more frequent meals to keep the calories coming in. Focus on powerlifting exercises with low reps to build size.

I'm sure others can give more advice than I can; I'm an endo-mesomorph and while I have read a few articles about your type, I can't comment too much.

Here's how you gain your weight back:

1. Eat a lot of fried foods. Fried chicken, French Fries, batter dipped anything.

2. Eat a lot of fatty meat. Samgyupsal, bacon, etc...

3. Sit around and do nothing. Hell, eat fried chicken in your bed. Don't get up to do anything but work and use the bathroom.

4. Most importantly, put a LOT of cheese on everything. Rice, kimchee, your cereal. If you aren't eating a pound of cheese a day, you are oding something wrong.

Weight gainers are good. But to be honest with you just stick with a normal diet.

You want to gain the right weight. Eat enough protein and eat a lot more healthy fats and add on tons of carbs. Try to avoid pure sugary carbs.
Nuts are a great source of calories and healthy fats.

You need to at least eat 3000+ calories especially if you go to a gym.

3500+ on the safe side. Eat lots eat often and think about the calories.

I'm guessing that your young, maybe mid 20s? I had trouble putting on weight when I was younger, but trust me, it'll come soon enough once you age a few more years.

I can remember I used to start drinking after work on a Friday evening and not stop all weekend when I was younger. I did this through most of my 20s and didn't put on an ounce. I was also training hard; lifting, playing football (soocer) and rugby, mountain biking and running. I ate like a horse and yet I still found it hard to bulk up and stayed around the 13stone (180lb) mark for years. However, around the 30-year mark things started to change. Everyhting started slowing down and the weight suddenly started to appear, but in all the places I didn't want it. I'm now about 97.7kgs and would love to be back at the 180lb mark once again

I'd say take on more calories at more intervals throughout the day. Maybe lift heavier weight at lowers reps and generally ease up a bit and see what happens. If that doesn't work, you can pretty much guarantee the pounds will come by themselves in a few years.

Water weight.

More proof that more and more vegetarians are fat.

From personal experience and observation, it seems that once a male hits his mid 30s then he starts getting a gut. I've been hitting the gym over the last 8 mos. or so and have trimmed my wasteline 2-4". I'm now a 34.

Hell, that sounds remarkably similar to my diet, and I'm not the most active of sorts. Even so, I'm atleast 7-8Kgs underweight for a guy my height...and regardless of how much/little I eat...my weight doesn't fluctuate more than a Kg or two. (I haven't tried a hunger strike...but I'm not that keen to drop any more weight)

ha ha HA! i do want to live past 40 and not die of a heart attack. hmm thanks for the advice so far everyone, but does anyone have a regiment of gainer/protein shakes i should follow? i actually would prefer the shakes to more meals since it takes me a lot of effort to eat more meals (cooking or going out to eat).

just to give some background info i'm 6'0" and 150 pounds, i've never made it over 165, i would ideally like to be closer to my ideal weight for my height. but then again i do only have a couple more years before i hit my 30s....
