So how is it done correctly?
Is two weeks calculated as 14 business days? Or is it 2 calendar weeks?

The education office, through my school, asked me today to tell them when I wanted to take my summer vacation.

I haven't used any yet, and my contract is up in September. Therefore I should use it this summer holidays.
At the same time, they suggested that I take my holidays in the last week of summer vacation....only four days, cause August 15th is a holiday. I told them I would take the full two weeks, which would take me back to the 28th of the previous month.

On a related note, if one does not use their holidays in EPIK, are they paid at the employees day rate? Doubt it, but thought I would ask.

I have not, and don't have the time to use, my home leave from my last renewal. I was to go to Canada during the winter break, but both of my grandmothers inconventiently died within five weeks of each other in Jan-Feb, so the trip was cancelled. The question is, does EPIK provide money in lieue of airfare if a person renewing does not take homeleave? I understand that at least one other outfit does. A flat million I think I heard.

Anybody?
Thanks.

Your 2 weeks home leave is 10 business days.

As midian3x says it's 10 working days.

It depends what it says in your contract about the payment in lieu for your ticket. My pre Sep'07 contract says that I only get paid 600 000 won if I don't take my flight. The GEPIK contract pays you the full price of the ticket if you don't take it. That's a bit sweet.

What vacation have you had off this year? What time off for winter vacation? I get two months for winter and one month for summer. My contract says that I only get twenty days so I don't really bother to put in for holiday because I get a lot anyway.

It will be interesting for me because my contract is up at the end of June. My contract says I can take the two weeks prior to the contract end with nothing to stop me. Even though I'm mid term I can take the two weeks off because it's in the contract. It's probably the same for you that irregardless of the time scale you can take those two weeks off at the end of August, even if there is classes.

Let us know what happens?

One person says homeleave is 10 business days, and another says two calendar weeks. Does that two calendar weeks include red days? If not, then...?

So summer vacation is 7 business days. ...and logically winter is too.

Are these correct?

Why on earth would they calculate these differently....?

What vacation time have I used? Well, by western standards, lots. Some of January, and most of February. By Korean standards, because I didn't leave the country, none.

I also renewed during the school year (September). The province is trying to tell me that since I didn't use my home leave in Jan-Feb, I forfeited it. I pointed out that my contract says it's to be used prior to starting a new contract, but we all agreed that taking that much time off during the school year wasn't a good idea. I also pointed out that since they had agreed to let me take it after the contractually stipulated time, that they couldn't arbitrarily impose a new dead line other than the end of the contract. Seemed logical to me.
This year if I renew, the point will be moot as I fully intend to take the time off during the school year. My wifes' due date is about the same as my renewal date. I want to be home for a couple of weeks to help her out.

I do not have any stipulation of money in lieue of airfare. I might ask for it though... An extra million would help with baby stuff...
