Guys, the wife and I sat through this monstrosity in Seoul today for a Matinee.

H O R R I B L E

She begged me to walk out with her at the half-way point. Yes, it's that bad. Only the graphics are interesting, but even the graphics can't save it.

The first hour of this movie drags on and on and on.... seemingly endless actor dialogue that was literally painful to watch. The last half of it gets better. The Korean actor "Rain" did OK, but it was goofy because they gave him a Japanese name, and there was Korean written on the wall at his father's company. Very odd. Also, one of the guys from G.O.D. was in it near the end -- the Koreans in the theater seemed shocked, as it apparently wasn't publicized much.

I'll warn you -- if you have a tendency towards vertigo, DO NOT watch this movie without medication.

I give it a 4 out of 10, with three points going toward the graphics.

That bad, eh? I'm going with my girlfriend to see it this Sunday. I don't normally drink but maybe I should bring some 'emergency' soju to knock me out?

Unless it was for your kids......why in the hell would anyone go see this movie in the first place? It has awful written all over it.

Just a minor correction. The name's a weird mix of these three words. Taejo (Korean) + Togo (Japanese) + Khan (Mongolian perhaps).

The cartoon always sucked anyway. So does most of Japanimation. Sure, the quality of illustration is good, but they always have those scenes where the same image stays still for too long. In their action scenes they'll have the same image for like 5-10 seconds and just change the colors i nthe background. So stupid.

Real cartoons have character. Screw Japanimation and its nerdy followers. To hell with Speedracer.

A movie called speedracer with Japanese/Korean man boys er I mean guys in it. Sounds like it's about a race to see who can blow their load quickest in a shagging competition. Ouch!

Your point is only relevant to pre-90's anime. Anything with a budget in recent times is real animation (anything by Miyazaki for example). But yeah, to hell with speedracer. That movie looks queerer than a $3 bill and elton john combined....

There's a bunch of great Japanese animation that's well worth watching just as there is a lot of trash like Speedracer.

Best performance by a monkey in a feature film since the gipper/bonzo era.

Worse. Yes, bring soju.

The only reason we went to this was because "Rain" was in it. My wife really wanted to see him in a Hollywood movie.
