Lately, it seems as if Koreans have been overly nosy into my private matters.

I am not talking about friends, either. But, don't ever leave the door unlocked, they will just barge in without knocking.. Surprised

Why do they ask so many personal questions ( how much debt are you in, where do you live, etc)????

It's espcially bad with my former employeers. Why would you be so overly curios about some one who doesnt work for you anymore?? If you were so interested in me, then you should have valued me when I was around... Confused

Anyways, I am sure other people have had to deal with this. How do you handle it? Was it as bad??

Depending on how polite you want to be, you can:

a) change the subject to evade the question. (not impolite)
b) bounce the same question back to them. (may come across as impolite, even though they asked you the same a few seconds earlier)

or what I do

c) give an answer but not a truthful one, then they haven't really learned any personal information about you. Especially about where you live (no good for the many who have apartments provided by their employer). I arranged my own place so if my boss asked where I live I would just give a vague answer, never my actual address. (polite, as they are satisfied)

My last job I had I was living in my boss's house. His wife barged in one day right when I had gotten out of the shower. I was standing there naked. She was smiling, not really apologetic either.

my supervisor showed up in my bedroom one day when i called in sick.... i left my apartment unlocked, i was in bed and sick for real, i had food poisoning. next thing i know she is standing right there by my bed making sure i was "okay" (she was just checking in if i was really sick i think, she thought i might have been drinking or something). it was so weird.

That's what all the locks are for.

I've only taken 1 sick day, last Monday, and only will if I am sick-I don't care if coworkers mean well-when I'm sick, nobody comes in.

How long had you been working for your boss? I'm into my 8th month and a bit of a commute, but there was no hassle for me taking a sick day-on the strt end of the weekend, no less.

'Bieng Nosy'

Sounds like a Cambodian village.

(BTW, nosy is spelt wrong as well- nosey. 100% incorrect spelling in the title)

My landlord would let himself in when I was at work to check the gas meter (inside the apartment) and fix random stuff. The only way I found this out was one day I couldn't get in because he locked the deadbolt (which I never lock) on his way out. He also had changed the lighting in the bathroom, leaving my toothbrush and other toiletries all over the floor.

Isn't that sort of thing illegal, even in Korea?

It was embarrassing too, since the night before my girlfriend was over and we had left some "risque" stuff on the bed. I won't go into details.

I told my boss about it and he just said, "don't worry about it." Riiiight.

Change your locks, folks. It should be the first thing you do when you move in, in my opinion.

Give a key to a friend you trust in case of an emergency, but to no one else.
