Okay, don't get the wrong impression of me, I'm not into prostitutes. Never been with one, never will. With that said, I'm wondering if they have bar girls (prostitutes) in the bars or elsewhere in S Korea as they do all over Thailand. The reason I'm asking is because while I was in Thailand (three months) I could never tell the difference between regular girls in a bar and working girls in a bar.
I do love going out to bars and clubs so I'm curious to know what the scene is like. Are they all over or just in certain areas? |

Why don't you ask the next girl you see working in a bar whether she's a "bar girl". Nothing wrong w/ asking, is there? |

Did you talk to them at all?
If you couldn't tell the difference through their word choices, intelligence level, interests, etc....maybe you're the equivalent of a "bar boy." |

Well, if she is NOT a "working girl," there is something wrong with it,...something like she won't have ANYTHING to do with you after such an enquiry! |

I'm not a bar-boy, but if you've spent time in Thailand you would know what I'm talking about. I prefer places that don't have them, that is why I'm asking. |

I lived there for six years and I don't know exactly what you are talking about. It's pretty simple to see the difference imo. One utterance/sentence for the girl's mouth usually does it. Certainly helps if you speak or understand Thai, but clothes, jewelry,...even perfume and cosmetics are give-aways. But nothing is more obvious than what they want to talk about.
books - pop culture - travel ---vs--- booze - shags - money |

no, you're right. I can tell a lot of times. Obviously, if I'm in Patpong, I would be my life she's a bargirl. However, if you go to RCA you will never know. It's a lot harder to tell when you're away from the tourist areas. |

It's not the same as in Thailand. There are some places know as hostess bars around US army bases where it costs around $20 to buy a girl a drink. It's pretty obvious when you've stepped into one. There are also room salons which are mainly for Koreans. These are basically singing rooms with girls as far as I know. Again, you'll know if you're in one, and you won't be going to one alone.
Most bars are normal in the sense that the women you meet there are not on the game. Other than in foreigner bars, I have never seen women drinking alone. |

Yeah...ok...suuuuure.
On another, much happier note, I have enjoyed the services of prostitutes all over the world. |

There are "Sexy Bars" where the girls will be wearing low cut dresses/bikinis/lingerie depending on the place, and where they're essentially paid to flirt with you as they pour drinks. I've been to these places a few times and I've never seen it go beyond that. |

Flirt bars over here are crazy expensive. I got caught out in a moment of loneliness and ended up dropping 300 000 won in one drinking with a sexy as hell older (30+) girl. It was pretty fun though, we shot some pool and then sat at the bar chit chatting about various things including her job, next thing i knew 300 bucks was down the tubes. I saw guys dropping 500 000 for bottles of wine, it's weird to say the least....500 000 in thailand on the same kinda entertainment...sheesh! |
