I'm considering a job with ECC and was wondering what your opinion on this company was? It will be my first teaching contract. Is it right that they have a set curriculum with their own textbooks? Is this good for new teachers because it means less stress in trying to plan lessons and such? What is their dress code? I'm sure I have loads more questions, just can't think of any right now, just let me know what your experience with the company was like.

Thanks

I worked for an ECC franchise school last year and had no complaints at all. They do have their own text books and speaking as someone who had no previous experience of teaching I found them easy to get to grips with and the teachers guides were especially useful for the first few months.

I think the key thing is to speak to someone who has worked at the school you are considering. It's not always possible but ideally you should speak to someone that has now left the school so that you can be sure you're getting an honest opinion. If that's not possible then you should speak to some of the current teachers and see what they have to say.

Best of luck with it.

i agree- depends on the school. i worked for a franchise in dongdaemun area. it was ok. i think ECC makes it easier for first time teachers. but there seems to be more bs that comes with working for a company so big. the dress code blows- no jeans, no shorts, polo shirts in summer are ok, no tennis shoes or flip flops. blah blah blah. our school wasnt doing so well and alot of the blame got put on us even though it was becuase more schools were popping up around the neighborhood. i think it was a good stepping stone- i'm coming back soon- but not working for ecc- i might have considered it if they would give me a schedule i wanted- but i found somewhere else first.

if you have any specific questions feel free to ask.

ps- the vacation schedule blows- a couple days here and there to make long weekends and even though we didnt work on sat. they counted some of the saturdays vacation days because some of the schools were open on saturdays. also- they shorted us 2 vacation days on the calendar. but the manager gave them to us on a couple random weekdays.

ECC and kids college are equally horrible. The over abundance of complaints against them should be enough to make anyone run like hell. Every so often someone will come on here and say how wondereful they are and then come back at the end of their contract and scream murder about them. Even if a very very small number of franchises are okay...why take the chance???

I had terrible troubles with the ECC I worked for. Got burned over the course of a year for almost 5 million. It's liek the others said though. Individual franchise owners may be good or really really freakin' bad.

I will agree with this, the vacation days are the same for all ECC's i think...and they are pretty gay/
