Mine has an input on the back for the monitor cable. Works great. Not sure what is the best though.

Google would probably help you out.

Quality goes in this order.

1. HDMI (do your homework on what cards actually work - HDCP is a must) older DVI works well, but problems arise because isn't not HDCP compliant.
2. VGA (old style computer output/input)
3. Component
4. S-video
5. RCA plugs
