Outside the gate of my school, I mean directly next to it, there's a guy selling M16 and AK47 plastic BB guns out of the trunk of his car. Classy. Of course, the little guys are interested, and the "salesman" is certainly doing his best to make sales. Inappropriate. |

Just like the US except the kids get the real thing for a few dollars more. |

How is a toy gun inappropriate? Coming from a country with guns, I can see why you would find it inappropriate, but there are no guns in Korea. Sure, the kids could shoot another student, but they could also throw rocks, cut each other with their box cutters or hit them with sticks.
I don't think its any different than people selling candy, ice cream or other toys. |

You are not in America anymore, relax and take a chill pill.
Kids don't pull real guns on people in Korea.
The only thing inappropriate is your obtuse and dense way of American thinking. |

Yes, that poster should use a different way of American thinking, one that isn't obtuse or dense. |

I don't know, maybe because thousands of people die every day from the use of firearms - all over the world, not only in North America. I'm not sure about a lot when it comes to parenting, but I'm confident that my kids will never see weapons as a game.

My issuse here is with the promotion of violence, not the existence of it (which obviously is also a problem). People can find ways to hurt eachother and ourselves, and human-nature in all its glory may never cease to exist in this regard. We don't give kids fake syringes and heroin and say, here, pretend to get high (yes, some hyperbole involved in that analogy, I know - but I think it conveys my feelings quite well).

And I guess this is why I've bothered to sign in to reply to this. I see a big difference. |

BS. And, I'm very relaxed, thanks. Extremely.
I know that kids don't pull real guns on people here in Korea. I think that's besides the point.
Selling BB guns out of your trunk directly in front of an elementary school is inappropriate. Period.
Anyway, the vice-principal put the run to him about 10 minutes after my original post (I guess he thought it was inappropraite, too).
It's not like the guy was a rep. for the "ACE Toy Company" or something. Just some shady looking 30 something year old guy with about 10 to 12 BB guns in his trunk (WTF??). What a great idea. A few phoney "I'm sorrys" and half bows and he left. |

Em, but maybe they grow up and go on student exchanges to places like Virginia...
Seriously though, most kids play with toy weapons anyway. When I was young if we didn't have toy guns we'd make wooden swords etc.. |

I wouldn't mind. Who's gonna buy them...the parents don't send their kids off to school w/ wads of money in their pockets. Maybe they should sell hand grenades, might be more affordable for the little warriors. |

Hello, my name is Passions and I'm a time traveller from the 80's, when people still used the term chill-pill. |
