Don't click.

The site was reported as an attack site, and blocked -- according to my Firefox -- or something.

This is what the warning graphic looked like:

Foreigner Arrested for Serial Rape in Itaewon
That was the news from Itaewon over the weekend.

A foreign illegal immigrant has been arrested for enticing women met at the central Seoul district of Itaewon and then sexually assaulting, photographing, and videotaping them. The total number of women victims exceeds 20 and includes middle school students.

The Yongsan Police Department announced on the 20th that M, a 39-year old Bangladeshi, has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting the women after they drank soft drinks laced with drugs.

According to police, on the 13th in Itaewon M met L, a 15-year old middle school student caught in the rain, and told her that, I am a tourist who can speak English, but I want to learn Korean. After gaining her trust by treating her to a meal, he handed her a soft drink with drugs inside. M took her to his home once she had become unable to walk and was losing consciousness, then photographed and videotaped her after sexually assaulting her.

Police discovered videos and photos of L and another middle school student in Ms home, and have confirmed that there are at least 20 other victims. It has been discovered that M would wear gold necklaces and bracelets, dress cleanly, and walk Itaewon Street to meet women walking by themselves.

M entered the country as an illegal immigrant in 2003, and was arrested in 2004 on suspicion of unlawful imprisonment but released without charge. Police said that, L does not remember the situation clearly owing to the drugs she consumed. It is quite serious that the injured women are unable to remember what happened. Investigators are continuing their work and believe that M made illegal communications of his videotapes at telephone rooms and other places.

I expect there will be questions over why he was not deported in 2004. And whoever supplied him with his drugs should be facing the severest punishments the law can offer.

Koreabeat has always been perfectly safe. At my sister's home (where I'm staying for a few weeks) one computer is on Firefox and the other isn't. The one on Firefox flags it for some reason but it's fine on the other computer. I check Koreabeat at work almost every day and it's never been a problem.

First thing I thought when I saw the thread title was "Please don't be a teacher. Please don't be a teacher".
First thing I thought when I read the article was "Thank god he wasn't a teacher. Thank god he wasn't a teacher."

1- No there won't. Anytime Immigration fucks up, it gets swept under the rug. It's only the criminals they allowed to stay here that are gone after.
2- Rolling Eyes What incentive does the guy have to give up his drug connection? It's not like Korean courts allow plea bargains.

is it not disappointing that all we seem to be worried about on this board is how koreans would react to this? like ldh2222 says, this guy needs some serious punishment. hopefully people won't jump to stupid conclusions about foreigners in korea because of this, but whatever happens, concern for this bastard's victims must surely be more important.

But you know if this was a Korean it would be a slap on the wrist.

Mikekim is exactly right. This reminds me of the 2 middle-aged Korean men earlier in the year that ran a noraebang in Gangnam and forced girls as young as 15 years old to be sex servants. Forced. And that's 13 or 14 years old in Western age. The 2 guys had recently been released from prison where they served less than 6 months for doing the same thing, forcing teenage girls to be sex servants.

I haven't heard any follow up on those guys' 2nd sentence. They probably just offered some young girls to the judge and paid a fine.

We won't mention the high(?) schoolers down south who gang-raped dozens of girls in their neighbourhood, yet the police did nothing.

Oh, they'll make an example of this Bangledeshi guy, but if he was Korean it barely make the paper.

The police did do something: They promised tighter restrictions of online pornography. Because that western pornography was surely the reason why the students raped other students, including middle school students. It certainly wouldn't be influenced by the high amount of rape scenes in the late-night 19 movies on cable.
