I have been reading false information on this board that the drug test has been dropped from the application process for an E2 visa. That is completely false.

I was at immigration today to get my ARC after getting my visa last week. There are two documents that are needed beyond your application form with one photo and a 10,000 won stamp.

First, you will need the business form for the school at which you are teaching. This form has the business number for your school.

Second, you need an employment medical exam. The agent at immigration wrote this information down for me in Korean and included in English the fact that this medical exam should include an HIV test and a DRUG TEST.

Now, I am switching jobs, so those who transfer from one job to another may not need this to re-register their ARC, but if you are new or switching jobs, you will need a drug and HIV test.

I'm renewing at the same school and a drug test was required as part of the physical exam. I'm with GEPIK.

They are not testing for cannaboids. That's the difference now.

Hank is correct, only the marijuana test is dropped for immigration.

The drug test shouldn't be an issue anyway for people already in Korea for 2 reasons: First, you shouldn't be smoking in Korea. If you are, quit and get your pre-renewal test done. Second, if you are getting a new ARC, you have 90 days to submit your tests and get the ARC. Plenty of time for that vacation residue to leave your system.

But since they don't test for marijuana anymore, it doesn't matter.

I just got a health check done in March. If I re-sign with my F-2 visa (hopefully obtaining after I get married), will I have to get another health check?
