i'm in the market for a new mp3 player. i have a 80gig ipod video right now and i just find it to be too big (ill still be using it as a hard drive). so i'm looking for something around the nano's size.
i'll be using it only for the mp3 features, so i don't really care about video playback, fm tuners, extra functions etc. i do want a decent screen since i am used to the ipod's bright screen (no led b/w screens) and menu system. also durability would be nice since i'll use it for working out. looking for the 4-8gig range.
i figure i'm in korea so i try out a korean brand (and apple products a bit pricier here than in the states).
so anyone have recommendations? and is yongsan a good place to shop for an mp3 player? |

| Zai, your avatar is hilarious. Ummm for me the nano killer was the touch. I use it for reading and wifi as well as music. |

I despise iTunes so I've never owned any kind of iPod. The new iRivers and Cowons are supposed to be good.
The iRiver U10 was by far the best MP3 player I've owned but I lost it. I bought an S10 which is quite nice but the battery life is pretty short and the audio quality doesn't quite match the U10 (which was amazing). |

| I second the U10. I also hate itunes so I was looking for an alternative and landed on the iriver u10. Mine is a 4 gig. I've been using it for about a year, it can play video but I've never really used it for that. It comes with a little pouch and screen cleaner. The battery life is around 10 hours. You can also by the cradle and use it as a mini-stereo and an alarm clock. It's ver reliable and you can chose the song it plays as an alarm and also how loud it is. It gets VERY loud so the only time you would sleep through it would be if you were in a coma. It's also conveniently small and you can buy an armband for it and things. |

thanks for the suggestions everyone. well after a full day walking around yongsan and checking out the various mp3 players i actually settled on a new nano....yeah i know, but it was the smallest 8giger i could find. so i ponied up the extra money for it...sigh oh well....i personally don't have a problem with itunes (but then again i'm on a mac, i hear itunes is horrible on windows) so that wasn't an issue for me.
thanks again everyone! |
