The Pope's in the US and people are predictably giving Catholicism a hard time. If people actually looked up homosexuality in the Caechism of the Catholic Church they'd find the entry very short and not especially harsh. I urge people to look up homosexuality in all world religions. They'll quickly find that neither in theory nor in practice is Catholicism the religion most harshly opposed to homosexuality by any stretch of the imagination.

I'm a little vague on the connection the OP is making between Catholicism and homosexuality. Please clarify.

Many gays tend to believe that the Church has a hate on for them, when in fact it is not true.

My point is that certain homosexuals were picketing the Pope and in my experience homosexuality is distinguished as the anti-gay religion when in fact by no stretch of the imagination is Catholicism the religion most condemning of homosexuality nor do we hate homosexuals or anything like that. If people want to protest homophobia there's no reason for them to distinguish Catholicism.

I meant in my experience Catholicism is distinguished as the anti-gay religion.

I'm not sure what experience you had. Homosexuality(sodomy to be precise) is a mortal sin. If you have sex anally and you do not confess it, you are going to hell. End of story.

In the sense then, that catholicism condemns all homosexuals as hellbound, then it is anti-gay.

I don't think the Catholic church is anti-homosexual at all...

Look at the number or nonces they have in the priesthood (Boom Boom).

(Just to make it clear in no way am I equating homosexuality with peadophilia).

I've always wondered why God is so anti anal sex. I can think of a few other things he should be more worried about... And if there are aliens, which there are almost definitely, do the aliens he put on other planets have anuses?

Both I presume. But so is not going to mass on a sunday.

The guilt and worry imposed by catholicism imposed on the believer is insane. I know it is a stereotype but really...

My mom literally every week asks me if I've been to mass and tries to cajole me into going. At this point i just lie, and say i have. In her mind it is a reality that I am going to hell as I havn't went to church that day. The guilt and worry that this church puts my mother and father, aunts and uncles is shocking and something I'll never forgive, no matter how many times these scumbag popes get these great welcomes.

That generation was indoctrinated and taught to live their lives in the literal fear of God....a real loving church..

i wonder if this shit ever gets boring for the catholic church, or are they like a bad cover band replaying old hits for idiots to keep the money flowing?

like at some point, does the pope ever sit down and say "ok, let's get real. to eradicate homosexuality, we'd have to blow up the whole planet. that doesn't fit with god's plan"?

i mean i never read the B.C. Catholic anymore, and last time i did it had some stuff about how unless you were intending to make a baby, an ejaculation could not possibly be a good experience . . .

. . . written by a guy who's never had his weewee in that special place.

So nobody should oppose something they can't eradicate?

with the rhetoric, one assumes that eradication is their aim. it leads you to question what idiot fags are behind the wheel. don't it?
