I'm not a Kiwi or an Aussie, if you only want advice from Kiwis or Aussies, then don't read my post.
You can basically get unlimited working clearance for six months through BUNAC (http://www.bunac.org/) if you're an American. You didn't specify what nationality you are, which is a big part of the problem. If you're from another English-speaking country, this will be a lot easier than if you're from, say, Zambia. Kiwis and Aussies probably have much easier agreements, but BUNAC is what I know about. After you've done six months there, maybe you can convince employer x that you're worthwhile enough to sponsor for a more permanent visa. I don't know. |

Absolutely possible. You just gotta get up to Seoul (Namdaemun) and get your biometrics done. I'm planning on buggering off over there myself come September. See the website:
www.britishembassy.or.kr
Q: How long does it take to get a UK visa?
We aim to operate a fast and effective entry clearance service. If an Entry
Clearance Officer is satisfied of your application with documents you
submitted, your visa will be authorized, once it is authorized you will
receive the passport with the visa by DHL within 3 - 4 days (please note
that the time period depends on the company workload). If an in-depth
interview is required, we aim to process non-settlement applications within
10 working days, but please be aware that during peak periods, dealing with
increased volumes of visa applications, it can take longer.
Looks like it's going to be a bit pricey too:
431,000 is probably what you're looking at.
Tell me if you learn anything else on the topic!
