Here are the insulting parts:

Quote:

4 weeks paid vacation per year.
Summer and winter intensive programs or camps

Only 4 weeks? Many universities give 4 months. And camps? Ugh...
Quote:

 Two million won monthly salary

Wow, that's low.
Quote:
Minimum Master of Arts in TESOL or related field.

Would anyone with an MA TESOL go anywhere near an offer like this?

Here's the complete ad: http://www.eslcafe.com/jobs/korea/index.cgi?read=30583

haha, especially since in gwangju, even a first-timer would be earning at least 2.1 in a basic public school job, same hours, same overtime, with 3 times as much vacation.

Well, I see my uni has cut its vacation hours down by half according to what they're offering online this time around.

This is going to be an interesting contract period when they start asking us renewal questions in November.

At one point, my goal here was to work at a uni in Korea. That is no longer the case.

Mine either. Will probably be taking advantage of my F-2 and working two public school jobs next time around if they're cutting out my vacation.

Why would anyone bother with a uni job and all of the extra work that goes into it if camps become required, and the vacation gets whittled away?

Bassexpander, as a fellow F-2 I think you definetly should try and work as many after school programs as you can fit in to your schedule. The money per hour is fantastic and they are a blast. I work a few of them and love both the money and the teaching.

Hey, I'm a newbie to this forum and I was also considering a going for a job at a Korean uni.

From this post, it appears that it might not be the best gig in town.

I have three years of TEFL in Taiwan and Japan, a CELTA, and a Master's (albeit not in Education or EFL). This will be my first time in Korea. Oh, and I'm 30 years old (which may or may not be relevant).

What kind of teaching job should I be going for? A general question perhaps, but I'm looking for ideas based on other people's personal experience.

In Gwang Ju, for 2 million with only 4 weeks vacation... And the Masters only. Are they crazy, how could any of them have completed a degree and be that stupid Smile
