I have national health insurance through my employer, and can take out travel insurance if I want to go off somewhere on holiday, but I've not been able to find any information on insuring home (apartment) contents. I guess theft isn't as big a threat as it might be back home, but I could see my stuff getting trashed by fire or water damage.

Does anyone know if you can take out a basic contents insurance policy, and where I'd go to arrange it? My searches so far have turned up pretty much nothing (I even spoke to some companies back home, who predictably couldn't cover me outside the country).
