I'm planning to go via the Jilin province in China this summer.
Does anyone who has hiked Baekdusan before have any tips or useful websites? Can you go individually or is it best to go with a group?
Thanks in advance |

A few years ago, I went to Baekdusan alone. If you're expecting a great hiking trip...you'd do better to stay in Korea and go somewhere here. The main 'hiking' on the mountain is a mostly-paved path to the top. However, if you're going for the scenery, it's well worth the trip just so you can show the pictures to your Korean colleagues. I pretty much followed the Lonely Planet's advice for getting there. Feel free to PM if you need some specific input. |

Baekdusan is a good climb- quite challenging and fun. Good scenery at the top. I haven't gone in a long time because I no longer live in the area, but when I did I went once a month, often alone. |
