Gunpo is a city? I thought it was just a subway station next to a Baskin Robbins. |

Gunpo is a satellite city of Seoul. It's close to Anyang and Uiwang. The Sanbon area of Gunpo is fairly nice and clean. It's surround by mountains, but there's not a whole lot to do there compared to Seoul.
There are three subway stops: Gunpo, Sanbon, and Geumjeong. This provide you with easy access to Seoul, but it does take about 20-30 minutes to reach the southern part of Seoul.
If you need to be surrounded by foreigners day-in day-out, then I wouldn't recommend it. I have heard there is a small foreigner community there which frequents some of the local bars, but I have no idea. If you are looking for a quite and fairly clean place, it can be quite a nice place to live. It's certain more laid back than Seoul. Plus, Anyang is a nice city in and of itself. (It's about twice the size of Gunpo.)
Note: I don't live in Gunpo.

I think maybe a bit small for my tastes did the small town gig my first year.
I guess I should just stay put .............until I find a place in Seoul proper.
I am at a good place now just looking for a new K-adventure. |
