I need to book a one-way ticket to the UK, but the Korean Air price of 1.6m merits no other description than rip-off. Air China seem cheap, so what say you?

The missus took China Eastern two or three times now.

She is happy with them and they code share with Asiana so you might get an Asiana fair.

www.kayak.com is brining up BA at 1200 dollars 1st of May

Experida is saying Korean air for 957 leaving first of May

I've had good experiences on all the mainland carriers I've flown so far (Air China, China Southern, and Shanghai Airlines). The most recent of those was Air China, r/t to Beijing about a month ago. They're not quite up to the level of amazingness you expect from Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines, or Malaysia Airlines, but they're still pretty decent. I'd gladly fly Air China before I'd fly, say, Northwest again.

OK. I just found a ridiculously cheap RETURN fare for you.

I know you want one way but return tickets are cheaper... crazy, huh? It's with JAL (Japan Airline) flying from Seoul to Osaka to London Heathrow.

The only catch is you have to spend a night in Osaka.

It costs 409,500 won with this company http://airbooking.tourexpress.com/booking/BkFareSearch.txp?trip=RT&dep0=ICN&arr_text=%B7%B1%B4%F8&arr0=LON&=on&depdate0=20080526&retdate=20080531&val=&comp=Y&adt=1&chd=0&inf=0&carChk=JL&carChk=YY&idt=ADT&car=JL&sort=F&tpno=99&header=ID#tr17

(The link should take you directly to the page I am looking at right now).

According to them, tax should be about 160,000 won, bringing the ticket up to 560,000 won or so... 1 million cheaper than what you've been quoted for, even with a stay overnight in Osaka.

You don't need to worry about coming back, though.. just ditch the return portion of the ticket when you are in the UK. No one will sue you for it!!!

Do you have a Korean who can help you with this? If not, PM me and see if and how I can help.
