Hey. Im new to the city and am looking for some help. I sold all my gear before travelling here and am in the market for some new stuff. I was given the site www.djshop.co.kr but was wondering if anyone has any other options for me to find some affordable stuff. Im looking for CDJ 1000's preferably and a decent mixer. Would a place like technomart or the electronic market have anything like this? Has anyone dealt with any other sites, maybe ebay Korea? What is shipping like from other countries to here, ie any customs or duties? Thanks for your help.

There's a guy on Facebook in the Marketplace who's in Seoul selling his pair of CDJ 1000's for 2.4 million. A pretty good deal for MK3's. I know him, he takes care of his equipment.

Look like there's a few places selling them cheaper than djshop.co.kr

From memory djshop.co.kr's actual store is a little room in the Nagwon building. It's been a while since I was last there but from memory there are some other stores selling equipment and mixers in the building as well. I'm pretty sure I saw some second hand mixers in one of the windows. Might be worth a visit?

There is also a small store in one of the buildings at Yongsan. It's the first building when you exit the station and is up the top. I wasn't looking for Dj equipment at the time but from memory they actually had some stuff set up. The store across from them had reasonable prices on other audio gear so I assume that the equipment couldn't be too overpriced.

Don't quote me on any of this....it was quite a while ago.

If you buy something off of ebay and have it shipped in, you'll be looking at 20% import duty on the price you paid for it, new or used. They also levy the duty on the shipping charges, which is strange.

If you're lucky, sometimes expensive shipments slip through and show up on your doorstep without any import duty being charged. This has happened to me a couple of times.

edit: rates vary for other stuff-- 30% for clothing I think, for example-- but you'd be looking at 20% for DJ gear

go out exit 5 of Jongno-3-Ga station and there's a wierd windowless concrete building that cars can drive under. There's no English sign but in Korean it says (iirc) "낙원악기상가". Go up the stairs to the second floor.
