If you were to submit a CBC which one carry's more clout. The Canadian Embassy is pushing the RCMP. Meanwhile the Korean embassy in Toronto is telling us we need The Commisionairs |

Tip: When you go in make sure you tell them that it's for your visa for teaching overseas. I was told I would have to wait 2 weeks before I specified what it was for. I got mine done on the spot - woo hoo! (in Kelowna, BC). |

They all carry the same weight (along with the searches done by the various city police services (like Vancouver city police, Edmonton police, etc).
If you are in Canada just make sure you get a vulnerable sector search done.
If you are in Korea, use whatever one you can get (although the Canadian embassy here prefers the RCMP one - it really makes no difference to the immigration office).

Plenty of stories here of the embassy in Toronto being a bunch of tools.
Related, officemate had his brother-in-law take his RCMP check to the consulate in Ottawa to get notarized (it had already been notarized by a lawyer). The consulate staff wouldn't stamp it because it was not a vulnerable sector CBC, just a regular CBC. Why would he need a vulnerable sector check when he is not teaching children (he's a uni prof)? Nope, it has to a vulnerable CBC.
Screw that, I said. Just FedEx it here and have the Canadian Embassy stamp your declaration. I'd pay their $47 for no bullshit. Worth every damn penny. |
