The ETIS website only notes late August/early September as the start date for SMOE. Is it possible to start after half a year, say in March? Or do contracts usually not run March to March (for a full year contract) in the Seoul public school jobs?

I have a job at a private tutoring clinic that I enjoy, and I love the people I work with. I was planning on applying to SMOE now (for the May deadline and still might), but wanted to know if there was any chance of holding off but not for a full year.

Thanks!

Lots of people start at SMOE in March, I did and I think almost 200 people were at my orientation.

The beginning of March (or late Feb) and the end of August are the 2 main starting times. On a few occasions, a teacher will be hired to start in the summer before August.

What is the deadline date to apply for SMOE?

Why not just apply now?

They do end up hiring some people as close as 2 weeks before orientation, but you should submit your info now.

They will say that the start dates are set and can not be changed. Its BS. If you want to start a few weeks after the SMOE mandated date, just tell them you are having trouble getting a flight or that you can fill a spot for teachers that run or don't' show up to orientation.
