I finally dragged my lazy butt down to the NPS office today. As I have changed from paying into the national pension into the private teacher's pension, I thought I would go down and collect my national pension (per the regulations stated on the website).
However, both the Korean-speaking and English-speaking clerks there told me that the "rules" (laws?) had changed on July 23rd of 2007. Anyone switching over to the private pension systems after that date must "leave" Korea (one-way ticket) in order to collect.
Has anyone started into their private pension after July of last year, and collected their national pension under the "old" regulation? |

Sorry, should have searched the NPS website before posting. I just read there in fact WAS an amendment disallowing lump-sum payment in the case that you transfer to a different pension system. Darn. Refundable e-ticket, here I come... |
