I'm hoping someone can help me. I have gallstones and need surgery but I've heard horror stories about Korean doctors! Does anyone know of some that were trained in North America who would be qualified to perform this operation (laparascopic)?

I know there's one American licensed to practice in Korea... not sure what his specialty is though.
He's at Yonsei and his name is John Linton |

I had to have this surgery (well I chose to have it)
make sure it's done by laproscope and they don't cut you. No need to.
I told my doctor I didn't want to be cut, when I awoke after the surgery, she told me they ALMOST cut me, because apparently my gall bladder was a bitch to get out via laproscope.
I would have been VERY pissed if they had to cut.
As it is, surgery was Friday morning.. I was on my feet on Saturday morning.... out of hospital on Sat afternon and on my feet for a full work day on Monday (in retrospect, I should have milked some easy sick days, they told me to take it easy for up to a week)
and I have the gallstones that remained in my gallbladder in a nice plastic jar/cup as a momento. They look like whitish pebbles.
and re doctors..
plenty of outstanding and trained doctors outside of US borders. In fact I'd never pay US prices for any surgery/hospital stay unless it was a novel and complicated procedure. |

Send a pm to dr. love - he works at a hospital in eastern Seoul (Gangdong-gu) and will be able to help you get an appointment. |

Have you experienced or read about the insanity that comes with Korean doctors?
To second the other posters, John Linton at Yonsei's Severance Hospital (in the International Clinic). |
