In South Korea, it seems to be a given, even amongst foreigners, that Samsung's products are better than LG's.
However, I've never been dissatisfied, with any LG product I've ever bought, which is something I cannot say about Samsung. In fact, some Samsung products I've bought have been absolute crap (e.g. My DVD/VCR combo; It doesn't read DVDs as well as my LG, and the VCR motor seems weak.). |

From personal experience, I'd give the thumbs up to LG.
My Samsung D4 digital camera was a disappointment.
The three Samsung printers I've had all died within three months.
I don't buy Samsung nowadays.
I haven't had any probs with my LG TV, fridge, air conditioner or microwave. |

It almost certainly depends on the item. Both make tons of different electronics and have significant branches in many other areas.
I guess I think of them roughly the same overall, but it really does come down to what product. |

They're all good, except for the LG Clinx toothpaste. |

I've banned both brands from the home and office.
On principle.
To the extent humanly possible.
As a result, I've got a Samsung fridge, two LG A/Cs, 5 Samsung monitors, two LG monitors, an LG-IBM laptop, a Samsung TV, a Samsung slimline sexy-as-shit desktop PC, a Samsung MWO, a LG cordless phone set, the flooring is LG-Chem...
Just checked. Yeah, got a small Samsung vacuum cleaner. Some window systems are part-LG, and thank God neither of them make vodka.
Oh, which is better? I want LG to be better. Of course Samsung is bigger and fatter and uglier and more well-known, but as chaebol go, I wish they'd die. |

I'd rather buy American (haha) but I'd say LG is on par with Japanese electronic manufacturers. Samsung, well maybe they've greatly improve recently, but my experiences with them haven't been good. |

When I was assembling my essential household I asked a numer of Koreans including shop assistants whether to buy LG or Samsung. All of them said "Buy LG", the only exception being the rather sexy Samsung promo girl at the Samsung stand at Technomart.
So I have bought only LG so far. All significant Korean electronics I have in Thailand are also LG.
Only Samsung items I can identify right now a re a number of hard drives which are still performing well. |

They say Samsung is better for things like TVs and home theater, while LG is better for washers and other appliances.
Among big screen TVs, the Samsung Cannes is a bargain at 2 million won; it has FULL HD, 50-inch screen, DNIe and a host of other goodies. |
