I am an instructor from the US at a Hagwon in Busan and I have several very bright and advanced students that are trying to get into Korean international High Schools. I've looked into HAFS but I also know they're interested in Daewon. They meet all the qualifications (and beyond) for applying for the schools so now I'm looking at the entrance tests, essay, and "personality interview". My problem is that because I don't speak Korean I have limited information that I can access from the websites as far as explanations of the exam criteria. Also, I've been told that there's a possibility that the format is changing from the previous tests.
I'm not looking from insider information from any of the schools or anything. I'm mostly focusing on the writing so I'm looking to answer a few questions that I would normally know for writing assignments:
-Who will be the audience? (i.e. Will foreign teachers or Korean English-speakers grade the essay? Both?)
-Will there be independent essays about their future goals or will there be more integrated critical analysis topics? Or both? (Can you tell I teach TOEFL?)
-What are some of the general topics? (Economics? Korean Culture?)
-How much time is allowed for the writing?
If anyone could help me out with this that would be great. Also, a quick summary of what this "personality interview" would be great. My students think it's more of a speaking test than interview. Is this true?
Thanks,
