|

I am working for EPIK. The deal on the return ticket is that they will pay for a one way ticket out of Korea back to your city of origin OR to ANYWHERE as long as it is equal to or less than the ticket back to your city of origin. But they will only buy an airline ticket, not a train ticket.
I read on one of these threads way-back-when that someone bought a REFUNDABLE ticket home and then cashed it in and went to wherever. But since the refundable tickets are more expensive, I was just wondering how that worked? Do we buy our ticket ourselves, show it to the 'powers that be' and then get reimbursed? Or do the 'powers that be' buy the ticket?
I would like to buy a refundable, cash in the ticket, and then take the money to buy a ticket on the Trans-Siberian Railway from Vladivostok to Moscow.
Suggestion, comments? |

Simple - Buy the ticket. Show them the ticket and invoice. Get reimbursed. Cash in the ticket. |

So we buy our own tickets and they don't check to see if that is the lowest fare out there on the market? Do you know of anyone who has worked for EPIK and left, having bought their own ticket?
Sorry but I can't believe that it is this easy. |

Ask your school. It is that easy. I will even give you a script.
You: "Excuse me, can you tell me if I should buy my plane ticket home or does the school do that?"
The School: "Blah-ah blah-ah blah-ah."
You: "Wow, thanks, that was easy!"
For me, I bought my own refundable ticket, showed the school, got the money and canceled the ticket. Actually, I informed the travel agency about what I was doing and they set it up where I only had to pay the 50,000 won fee and they issued me the ticket with me promising to cancel it in a couple weeks time. Two months later I was on a train from Beijing to Moscow (after spending the bigger chunk of the refunded ticket on a month in China).
I hope it works out as well for you as it did for me! |

I work for EPIC and it's that easy.
P.S. You can buy a more expensive ticket to a destination other than your home, as long as it's equal to or less than the distance to your home. |
