About two months ago, I had new neighbours move in. These assholes have two dogs that they leave out all day and night. These dogs bark like fucking crazy all day and night.
I've talked to my landlord about it. Nothing. I've told my Korean friend and he's talked to the landlord about it. Still nothing. I've had my school call the landlord about it and STILL nothing.
So, short of me lacing some food with anti-freeze or throwing a pound of chocolate out the window at these dogs, is there anything I could do or anyone else I can call to get these fucking mutts to shut the hell up?

*note: I apologize if this post is worded poorly or rambles. This is being written after 2 hours of sleep. FUCKING DOGS!

How much time do you spend at home? Killing the dogs won't help, they'll probably get another dog.

Can't say much for Koreans properly caring for their pets, but I have met a select few that seem to have done their research and care for them like they would their own children.

You could invest in some bark collars (semi-expensive) - aside from the cost, you'd be able to sleep.

Or you could get some noise canceling headphones. Cheaper, but you'd still have the barking - at least with the bark collars, the electric shock actually corrects the behavior.

We had a similar situation here about six months ago. There's a commercial building next door to our apartment building, one of the businesses was leaving a jindo dog locked up in a 4x4 bathroom locked up 18 hours a day. Every morning, the dog would start barking like crazy - this would continue for hours on end, so my wife put a note on their door saying if they kept it up - she'd call the police and lodge a complaint and call the media. The name of that business? "JINDO DOG ASSOCIATION"

The next day that dog was released from its prison and the problem stopped.

I don't spend too much time at home. It's more for when I'm home sleeping. I really don't care if they bark and I'm home watching TV or anything, but at 3:00am, then that's another story.
I really wouldn't actually kill the dogs, but this is starting to affect my health. Never mind the lack of sleep and the affect that has on me. The fact that I'm zoning during the day and doubling (and sometimes tripling) my caffeine intake to get through the day is leaving me feeling...shaky.
If I were to look for anti-bark collars. How does one go about using them? I doubt I'd be able to just go up and put them on the dogs myself, and seeing the attitudes these people have towards the dogs, I doubt they would accept them anyways.
The headphones are a good idea. I'm assuming I could buy them at Yongsan or Technomart. How much would a pair go for?

Regardless, thanks for the suggestions,

Children's benadryl. Every day. Stuck inside a hot dog.
When my dog was annoying me and I was super stressed out from finals, I gave her benadryl to make her just sleep.
Granted, I wouldn't actually do this to the dogs, but it's a better idea than antifreeze. though, if you do that and then feel guilty, give it some alcohol... that's how you treat antifreeze poisoning. ^^ A drunk dog!
Okay, now I'm rambling.. sorry, finals week here. >.<

I too was driven insane by noisy neighbors and it drove me to borderline alcoholism. It didn't involve a dog however. It involved an elephant. After Elephant Woman moved out because I drove her out (she was so scared of me, she carried a knife) T-Rex Woman moved in. I also terrorized them, but sadly got in trouble this time with the police. However, the police were very reasonable, took my side (largely) and I strongly recommend you get the police involved. Or kill the dogs. Noisy pet dogs are worthless pieces of crap and so are their owners.

The bark collars I'm talking about come with a battery. The battery lasts about 2-3 months. You'd have to get the owners to agree to put the collars on the dogs of course...some owners are OK with it, some aren't.

The electric shock doesn't hurt the dogs and doesn't last a long time. Speaking from personal experience, they work well to actually correct the behavior. Both of my Australian shepherds had a bark problem until we got them the collar, and both stopped after about 2 months of using the collars.

ohh, i just thought of another option.
Find a recording of dogs barking and play it on your computer. Really loud. With the speakers pointing towards their apartment/wall. And play it when you aren't home.
maybe they'd eventually get the hint.
Seriously though, have you tried going directly to the people? Did the landlord talk to them or did the landlord just ignore the whole issue?

A recording of people speaking English will probably annoy them more Razz

That is a good idea though. Maybe set up your PC to start playing it at 3am Sunday morning (on an endless loop of course), and book into a motel on saturday night Smile

Obviously the landlord isn't interested in helping you. That's sucks.

But, I'm wondering, why haven't you talked to your neighbors directly??? That would have been my first move. They might be more understanding and sympathetic to your situation.
