My current "international" bank card (a Korean bank issued Visa card) works fine in Korea and works abroad when making purchases. But it doesn't work abroad in ATM machines (even though it has the "Cirrus" stamp on the back). It does work in Korean (BC) type ATMs, however.

I don't want to carry a lot of cash ot travelers checks with me when I go abroad for my upcoming vacation, as I prefer to the safety and convenience of ATMs.

Anybody know of a bank card issued here in Korea that will work in ATM machines abroad? If so, which bank?

Standard Chartered Jeil Bank.

I use Nonghyup and haven't had any problems to date.

Does anybody have a link to a map that shows where the Standard Chartered branches in Daegu are?

I searched the (English) website, and discovered that there are 11 branches in Daegu, but no map to them.

Regarding the int'l card you have now, maybe you can only use it internationally during Korean bank hours. That's how mine is. It makes for exciting bank machine visits at 2am in Canada.
