I'm looking for a place (or several places) that has a good selection of dog kennels. I'm flying home with my dog in a few weeks and American Airlines has a guideline that requires kennel doors to be secured on all 4 sides with plastic ties. I think the kind with a spring lock handle will work because those generally have holes at the corners but I can't seem to find one anywhere. I'm getting really frustrated. Any good places in Seoul where I can look? That's my last resort before I order from home and have it shipped here... |

My solution was to go to ALPHA or Homeplus and buy a bag of the zippy ties, then I borrowed the drill from the maintenace man at the school and drilled holes around the door of the kennel (about 6) and secured the door that way. I bought a really good kennel here in the pet section of Seoul and the door still sprung off when it was jarred the wrong way, so I suggest the zippy tie solution. The airport staff will let you pop your dog in at the last minute before putting it on the plane, so you don't have to worry about zippy-tying him in until the last minute, then just have the customs guard on the other end use his knife to cut the ties as soon as your dog is cleared. |

The pet section of Seoul is Chungmuro, in case you're wondering, where the blue and orange subway lines meet. There are many pet places in the immediate vicinity of the station.
They have nice plastic cages--bought one there myself. If you're in Bundang, I could sell it to you for 100,000 won. It has detachable wheels, spring-lock door, all the holes one could want. |
