Here's why

Because the CA Supreme Court extended strict scrutiny towards gov't policy rather than using the looser rational basis test employed by the MA court. Strict scrutiny is commonly used only when dealing with possible racial discrimination/bias. Well, now gays are effectively in the same heavily protected class.

Even should the proposed narrow referendum overturn this decision's grant of a right for gays to marry, the strict scrutiny test has already been established as a precedent for other state couts to follow. This is a monumental decision and a historical moment in gay-rights history.

Eh yeah, because you know dogs have the capacity to participate in consensual sex with humans. Great analogy you've made there.

Why do you care if two people of the same gender marry one another? Doesn't affect you nor anyone beyond them one iota.

So how about polygamy? Who's to say that "marriage" should be limited to only two persons? Let's open it up to three+ I say.
