Are there any of you out there working in a Busan public school? Did you go through a recruiter, and if not, how did you find your job?
If Busan is your first teaching position in Korea, do you regret not choosing to live in Seoul?

I actually had a similar question about Busan's public schools, so if you don't mind, American_Maverick, I'd like to piggy-back more on to yours...

I see that Peoplerecruit is based in Busan and they seem to have mostly positive reviews on the forum, minus a few dissenting votes (from what I can tell so far). Are they good for finding a job in public schools in Busan? Also, is Busan part of the EPIK system? Does a candidate need to go through EPIK to get a job there? Or are there pub. schools associated with EPIK and then pub. schools not associated with EPIK in Busan? Forgive my ignorance about EPIK's jurisdiction. I am not completely clear on what they cover.

A few options for you.
#1 go through a recruiter that is contracted with EPIK.
#2 Apply directly through EPIK.
#3 Apply for an independent public school in Busan.

#1 Only go through a recruiter if you need help with the application and visa process or you need info on teaching in Korea.
I can think of one bloody good one!

#2 If you want to apply yourself and need minimal assistance with it all, apply directly to EPIK.
http://www.epik.go.kr/
They have a new website which is much better than before and some of the info you will need is there to find.

#3 There are schools in Busan which do not go through EPIK but advertise through the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education or use LOCAL recruiters.
As far as I know, these independent schools offer the same working conditions as EPIK.

Thanks very much. That definitely helps me. When you said that you can think of a good one, meaning, I suppose, a recruiter, who did you mean? I'm trying to get an idea of who the decent ones are. But thanks again for your trouble.

Cheers.
