aside from the obvious "i cant english very well" there are still way too many times when it is so fking cute trying to listen to these people speak english.

yeah, im a guy and im using the word cute.

my personal favorite:

i was telling a girl about where i am from in california and she asked "oh! is that the land of many oranges?"

orange county. seriously i probably could have asked her to marry me right there.

Orange County is the land of luxery cars, mansions and snobs. And sideways hat wearing, lifted truck driving, fake gang sign flashing, energy drink guzzling bros.

no, she probably said that because of the Tropicana commercials which reference California and oranges.

Have fun at club NB once you get to Korea, bro.

I'd like to nominate OnTheOtherSide for "newbie in for the biggest surprise and let down" of the year.

You're running away from something AND you seem to have something to prove. Korea's not the best place to come in that mindset.

Actually i'm being somewhat facetious and sarcastic with my posts. Unfortunately there's no punctuation for that, and lot's of people take things at face value apparently. Oh well.

By the way, you're all wrong on my reasons for going to Korea..... and Club NB is about the furthest thing away from what I would like to do. I'm not even going to Seoul Razz

CITIZEN, oops cap lock....,

Koreans are highly insulated from the rest of the world. Even when they go abroad to english-e speaking countries, they do so with a korean tour guide. So, they never use english-e outside of the hagwon. If they do, you should encourage them. The only people who become semi-fluent in english-e are the ones who go out of their way to speak it outside of a school setting.

for what it's worth. it's probably "cute" when you try to speak korean.

Haha, yeah. Some of the stuff my students come up with is adorable. Recently I had a group of them use the term (and I swear to you I'm not making this up) "pig money depository" instead of piggy bank. My head almost exploded.

Yeah, those electronic dictionaries are notorious for english-e that a native speaker would never use.

I always teach the kids "poop" because they like to use "dung" so much-e. When's the last time you said I have to tale a dung?
