The tax rate varies depending on your income. Its usually around 3%.

Did you see the Income Taxation Scale?

1,700,000 - 1,710,000 ... 25,480
1,800,000 - 1,810,000 ... 30,550
1,840,000 - 1,850,000 ... 32,410
1,900,000 - 1,910,000 ... 35,510
1,950,000 - 1,960,000 ... 37,990
2,000,000 - 2,010,000 ... 40,670
2,100,000 - 2,110,000 ... 45,710
2,200,000 - 2,210,000 ... 55,260

I'm paying tax for the first time now, previous jobs were always cash in hand. Excuse my ignorance, but can I claim it all back later? The korean govt., health service, etc hasn't done a lot for me, i'd like my money back please......

I was taxed 18,000 a month and according to the above chart, should have been 35,510. Nice to know I had a clueless boss.

Annoying to know that by paying tax I am helping to fund certain things that i strongly dissaprove of- like the govt reclamation plan at Saemangeum- a totally wasteful, thoughtless, and unnecesary degradation of the environment.. Oh well...
