How do you respond when you enter some hole-in-wall-restaurant or bar, nothing special or fancy, and some guy or girl who works there, generally an aggressive man seems to determined to sit you in a certain seat..
Do you..
1) Sit exactly where he wants you to sit.
or
2) Ignore him, and choose the seat that you prefer.
For whatever reason, one of my pet peeves is to enter a hole-in-the-wall restaurant or bar and have some guy practically forcing me where to sit.. particularly when they touch me or grab my arm to practically force me to sit in a certain spot.. particularly when the place is almost empty..

I've had this happen quite often. They do it for many reasons - sometimes they want you to sit near the window so the restaurant looks busy from the outside, for example. Depending on my mood, I'll insist/ask for a different seat if I see one I'd prefer.
I have this happen more often at PC bangs - you walk in and they tell you which computer to sit at, even though the number on the card you're given can work anywhere and the place is half-empty.
I try to sit away from smokers, and tell them that, so they usually help me find a place with cleaner air. Though invariably some chain-smoking guy will sit down right next to me within a half hour. |

Hmm.. I never thought of that before.. but 9 times out of 10, they tend to try to sit me at the first seat next to the door.. like the very second I walk-in.. its like sit right here.. right here.. no, right here kind of motioning.. sometimes its too much to ignore and I end up sitting there.. other times its a contest of wills.. and I push on past and sit somewhere where I'd like to sit.. (incidently, oddly enough, I actually do like sitting at windows)..
PC-Bangs.. yeah, I never understand that either if the place is empty and you could really sit anywhere you want.. and I too, quickly scope a place.. and particularly don't want to be anywhere near a smoker.. and I also don't want to be in any high-traffic area where people are going to bump by chair, or stare at what I'm writing or doing (even if i'm just posting on here).. etc. |

The typical Korean nightclub takes the biscuit.
"you sit here!!!!"
"you drink this!!!!!"
"you eat this fruit!!!!"
"you don't talk to girls!!!!!! I get girls for you!!!!"
It's supposed to be hands-on service but it sucks! |

Me too, unless it's street level. I'm not comfortable being the Waegook in the Window if it's a high pedestrian traffic area, with the masses watching me eat. Except in Seoul - no one cares there. |

...but that is how a Korean style night club works. If you want a "western style night club", then go to a "western style night club" as they do exist. |

But complaining about it is like complaining about how McDonald's makes you pay before you get your food or makes you stand in a line instead of a waiter coming to your table.
It's just that I fail to see the reasoning behind complaining over how a Korea style nightclub works. |

That's all fine and good, Gord, but why not jump Tiger Beer's and Lemon's bones, because they're complaining about Korean-style restaurants and PC bangs?
Or do you just have some sick attraction to eamo? I know he's sexy, but stalking him on the message board? Damn. |

Lemon's and Tiger Beer are talking about the individual action of some people which happens on a minority of occasions, thus it is a curiousity to discuss.
Eamo is complaining about how an entire business concept is run because it's different than what happens back home. Perhaps if he said "sometimes when I go to the local nightclub, they drag me to a table and make me sit there and do not let me move tables while hitting me up for tips", then it would be worth commenting on. Instead, it's how the business operates all the time, thus falls outside the "don't you hate it when someone does this occasionally" that this conversation is currently having. |

Never really happened to me. I mis-voted though..I would just ignore them if they pushed me towards a certain place. |

I don't think this has ever bothered me here.. I don't mind being directed where to sit.
I think often they are trying to give you the "best" seat. In the owners eyes this will be the one next to the heater/fan/aircon or maybe the TV depending on the time of year and the weather. |
