So on Digg this morning there was a link to Canada passing a law raising the age of consent. One of the posters linked to a map of worldwide ages of consent. I'm not surprised by the US... I knew they were all between 16-18. But... take a look at Korea:

13? Seriously? Thir-freaking-teen? |

Funny how the age of consent is different for boys and girls in some countries |

Just a reminder: The laws in Korea that mention age go by calendar age, aka "Western age." |

I've heard what Butlerian said (19, Korean) from people here, but after his post I googled it and all but one of the websites I saw still listed Korea as 13 (Western). The website that had 19 said it couldn't actually verify that any such law had been passed.
Either way, if it was 13 only a decade or so ago, that may explain the girls I see in school uniforms walking around with guys who are obviously my age or older. |

4. In Canada, unmarried persons under 18 cannot legally consent to anal sex according to national law, although provincial laws may vary. |
Canada is full of liberals, I thought they would let that slide. |

As long as it doesn't slide in the back door... |

It could be that the Korean law is more complex than just a number. I noticed my US state, Georgia, was shown as having an age of consent of 16. That's only if your partner is under 18. An 18 year old cannot legally have sex with a 16 year old; it's a felony. Maybe Korean law has a similar feature. |

I'm sure you've heard about the kid I think from Atlanta, that was 17 having sex with his 15 year old girlfriend and was sent to jail? Screwed up story since he was tried as an adult, even though both parties were consenting and both minors. |

Yeah, several websites say one thing, one website says another. Go with the several. Airtight logic! |

Actually, you dumb shit, if you look at both of my posts neither is saying what I think either way. I posted this because I'm not sure... thus I haven't made my own opinion known either way. If I knew the answer (or thought I did), I wouldn't have asked here, now would I? |
