What's the best route to take to get to Jinbu, Gangwan-do from Jeollanam-do?

Buses run from Gwangju to Gangreung 6 times a day between 7 am and 6 pm. Gangreung is 45 km east of Pyeongchang county, Jinbu-myeon.

If you can navigate Korean sites you can see the timetable of the Gwangju bus terminal here: http://www.usquare.co.kr

Alternatively, it might be quicker to catch a bus to Wonju, then catch the bus to Jinbu from there (it will be the 2nd stop - first is Jangpyeong then Jinbu). From Wonju it's about 1 hour.

Heading up there for Buddha's birthday? I hear they put on some notable events.

Yeh, I'm hoping to make the trip in time for Buddha's birthday - it would be an ideal time to check the area. I was supposed to take a position up there last Dec and I'm really curious to see how it is. Plus I also have a friend I'm visiting so it works out perfectly. I hope the tickets don't sell out. Is there a website where I can purchase online?

Thanks for the Wonju suggestion - actually, I couldn't navigate the site to leave from Gwangju to Gangreung. I think it only works the other way around.

Do you have any other helpful hints for me? It's my first time traveling so far and my fist time in Gangwon-do so any advice is highly appreciated!

Only been to Chuncheon, a fine city.

Just wanted to point out that the website I posted actually only works from Gwangju to Gangreung, so the times and information you'll see are all for departing Gwangju.

You can get information on buses leaving Gangneung for Gwangju on this site: http://www.gnterminal.co.kr/ Click on 노선조회 and then scroll down to 광주.
