What a movie.
Anyone see it yet? There are some pretty gruesome things in it, but it was really well-made and the acting is great.
Still shuddering...
It was sick. |

Yeah. The original, 1997, was Australian.
It stars the chick from "The Ring." Naomi Watts.
I highly recommend the movie, but it's hard to watch. Very disturbing. I watched it streamlined.
Crazy. |

I thought it was German....well, I don't recall English in it, but maybe I am mistaking the movie for another.

Yeah, the original is a German language film. The director was Michael Haneke who I think is Austrian which is where the confusion may have come in.
I didn't know they remade it but if the new one is anything like the original I know exactly how you feel. I had a similar expericence with Dancer in the Dark, I didn't know whether I wanted to throttle the director or kiss him. Both movies are so needlessly horrible and powerfully affecting. |

I remember watching the original back when it first came out and being pretty shaken up by it. The remake didn't do much for me. I'm not sure if its because of the remake or because I'd already seen it. 10 years is a long time though so I think you'd be better off going for the subtitled version. |
