|

People have been asking me if I look forward to meeting Korean girls and I am, but I was also thinking that there would be a good opportunity to meet other expat teachers who share at least the base desire to travel and or do something crazy like going to Korea to teach.
Have any of you hooked up with other teachers? Would like to hear some stories... |

I know of a bunch of expat couples that formed in Korea, and at least one marriage. |

Quite honestly, I think Korean woman are crazy, and they can not drive. I almost died the other night because my friend insisted that his wife drive me to the train station from his house. Worst mistake. I seriously thought I was going to die that night. She was screaming at my friend the entire time, she pulled a u-turn into oncoming traffic in plain view of all the cars coming.
Another thing, I think it's cool that a lot of guys come here and get with Korean women. What I don't think is cool is a lot of the adjussis who take offense to it. Yesterday I went junk shopping in Jongno, angry adjussi central, with my friend and his Korean girlfriend. I was walking behind them for a good 20 minutes. You should have seen all the adjussis who stopped to gawk at my friend walking with his girlfriend, many of them uttering obscenities under their breath. I lost count at 30.
I asked her about this and she said that many Korean women, especially adjummas, find western men to be more attractive, that the common adjussi is nothing special to look at. Whatever. I thought that was pretty funny. |

Your Korean must be pretty well near native level if you can pick up Korean swear words that are mumbled under one's breath. |

I think the attitude has more to do with the Korean desire to keep the blood lines "clean" (read: non-white or 'contaminated' with any other non-Korean blood). Granted, this feeling is waning somewhat, hence the legions of Korean chicks who will go out with weiguks, but is still very strong amongst the older generations, hence the adjussis who'll mutter (or out and out yell) obscenities at the happy couples.
I remember that a friend of a friend had a Korean girlfriend in Busan back in '96 and after more than a year of a covert relationship the gf agreed to marry her American lover. When she told her parents the first thing her father said to her, after a few minutes of silence, was "Are you trying to kill me?" Anyway, trouble and imprisonment ensued (for her, in her room) and true love, sadly, did NOT prevail.

Only loosely related--
Last night my boyfriend and I were at the Lantern Parade. Some Korean woman walking by spotted us (he's Korean, I'm White), stomped her foot and whined to her friend, " 외국인 남자친구 하고 싶어!"
We both just broke out laughing. |

The great thing about women in Korea is even the ugly ones put some effort into their appearance. They know they are munters, but at least they try to appease peoples eyes
Not like back home where they look like a sack of potatoes with a mop for hair.
If you are here for a short time you will probably date Korean women. If you are here for a long time and have dated lots of kroean women and a western woman comes up you might jump at the chance to see pink nipples for a change. |

LOL- very true about caring about appearances.
The ONLY bad things about Korean women are the lack of genuine boobies and the OBSESSION with money. |

Id be lying if i said that the thought of korean women wernt somewhere on my list of attracting features when i first came here but within a month i found the majority to be whiny, annoying and really materialistic. Im now in a great relationship with a Candian girl i worked with. The funny part of the story is that she was already in a long term relationship when i arrived here, in fact it was with the guy i replaced (!) who'd headed back home for a few months before she was due to go back and meet him. kinda crazy eh?? perhaps she just liked his desk or something? i felt a little guilty as i met him for a week and he seemed like a nice guy.....but not to much . we're now living and working together very happily on the south coast . |

You can find some good ones but it's better to wait for a good one rather than just try to have a "girlfriend" who will bleed you dry.
Don't bother with most foreign women. They ALL get "ATTY-TOODS" as soon as they off the plane. The rest of us know that Koreans are staring at us because we're foreigners, but many foreign women come up with the kooky idea that they're being stared at because their "BOOTYFUL."
I've been running into South Africans lately who think that, because Koreans stare at them around their town and on the subway, that they're ready to be the next Miss Universe.
Whatever. |

Exactly why marginally attractive western women (5/10's and up) ignore other westerners here because they are convinced we want to bone them. If I wanted to bone a pasty, dour faced woman I would go back to Scotland. |
