Very Happy

Just thot I'd toss this in.

Open a DRIP or 3 with blue chip U.S. firms like ExxonMobil, Coke, WalMarat. Go to computerhshare.com for info. There are many others.

Each month, buy a bank check at Korean Exchange Bank for $5 (for up to $500), walk to nearby post office, send a registered or certified letter to Computershare. Then sit tight.

Buy blue chips and hold.

That's what I do. If the exchange rate is good, that helps.

I'm almost ashamed to own Exxon as a tree hugging Oregonian, but we'll need oil as long we are on this planet. Exxon is the world leader with the most astute management team in the industry.
I even think Ford is a good buy now at $8 a share. Ford has more $ in the bank than Microsoft and is streamlining. It may take 4-6 years, but it should be trading about $30 a share at least. Good long term play I think. It's an American icon. Great trucks. Energy aware, etc.
Just pick a solid blue chip and ride it.

I agree with buying Blue Chips and holding, but I don't think buying Ford is a good idea. ExxonMobile, yes, Walmart, big yes, but Ford? With all the reported losses in the American auto industry, why would you even consider Ford stock. Better to look into a blue chip which pays a dividend and hold onto it for the long run. If your crystal ball says Ford, then load up, but be prepared for a wait (much longer than 4-6 yrs IMO). They're cutting dealerships and having trouble bringing new models to market.

Then again, I'm an ESL teacher, not a financial planner. Those on here looking to invest should probably seek help from other sources! Laughing

I like the DRIP idea but I have only one thing against it. Computershare's website kind of blows. It was mediocre when the site was Equiserve, it sucks even more as Computershare. It's not a bad site but transactions take too long to post online and actual browsing through the site feels like a pain.

Good points.

I'm no expert, either.

But I just read in the IHT where some guy invested $100 milion in Ford stock. He said he expected a big, big hit in 4-6 years.

Ford has been a dog for a long time. And I guess if u hold anything long enough, it will go up some.

And I get pissed that Ford pays no dividend. It used to.

But it has a new boss that revamped another company, sorry can't recall name, and they seem to be slimming down to focus on the Ford oval, ie, do what they do best.
I just think they make a hell of a truck, are as American as apple pie, and that there is alot of room for growth in the stock price. The Ford Escape rocks and has gotten rave reviews.
